“Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice.” (Wayne Dyer)
One of the things that I believe that most of the readers of this blog appreciate about me… is the fact that I can be brutally honest and transparent about myself in my writings.
So here goes a “brutally” honest fact about myself. Are you ready to hear this?
Make sure you cover the kid’s ears… because this one’s gonna be a shocker!
Earlier this week… I Daniel Wiafe, the self-proclaimed motivation coach… was SUPER unmotivated.
In fact, the “unmotivation” was so bad… that I didn’t even write a daily post yesterday… but I hope you’ll be proud of the fact that I forced myself up out of bed at half an hour past midnight… to write this post. 🙂
Truth be told my friend… being unmotivated is a natural part of living life. We all have our ups and downs… and we all have our valleys and peaks of life.
And while it is AWESOME to have others motivate us… sometimes we have to purposely and intentionally go out there… and FIND ways to motivate ourselves… when we are feeling down and out and depressed.
Because the truth of the matter is that we won’t always have someone there to motivate us… in the time of our need and depression… and the fact of the matter is that if no one is around to motivate you… as Wayne Dyer quoted… you have two choices:
You can either choose to be miserable… or you can choose to motivate yourself. Whichever way you choose… it is 100% your choice to choose.
So let’s look at 5 SIMPLE ways to motivate yourself:
1. Remember your past successes
Sometimes… you just have to take a step back from life and what’s going on right NOW… and look to the past.
Remember those times in the past when you succeeded at something or at some task? Obviously you don’t want to live in the past… but reminding yourself about your past wins… will help spark an excitement and a renewed vigor in you.
2. Act excited!
If you are sad, start acting like you’re happy. If you are worried, start acting like you have everything under control. Whatever negative feelings that are overcoming you… with all of your strength, FORCE yourself to feel the opposite way.
Because it is a proven fact that when you smile, when you laugh, when you feel good and excited in the midst of a dramatic situation… it will switch your feelings from being sad & depressed 🙁 — to heppy & positive 🙂
Feeling good feelings is a HUGE part of living the law of attraction in your life… and is one of the most awesome ways to motivate yourself!
3. Ask yourself POSITIVE questions
Instead asking yourself the typical “mopey” and “dopey” questions that most people ask themselves when they’re feeling down… ask yourself positive questions.
For instance — don’t ask yourself, “Why am I so broke and can never ask yourself money?”. That’s a fool question, and guess what? You’ll remain broke asking questions like that!
No, instead ask yourself a POSITIVE question like, “Why am I so rich and wealthy… and why does money come into my life from every direction?”
Ask yourself questions like, “Why am I so happy today? Why do I have so much ENERGY today? Why am I going to get this promotion at work today?”
You get the drift? 😉
This is a GREAT way to motivate yourself.
4. Make it a point to find a way to motivate someone else
When you think about it… it can be quite hard to motivate someone else… when you yourself feel like dog crap on the bottom of somebody’s shoe…
But when you act upon it (and DON’T think about it)… and you act upon the action of purposely going out there and motivating others and cheering them on in life… this very action has a ton of synergy in it… which in itself will rub off on you… and bring you up from your down feelings.
What a GREAT way to motivate yourself... don’t you think?
5. Do the toughest tasks first
We’ve all been there before. We have a tons of things to do and looming deadlines to meet at our jobs or businesses… so what do we do?
Most of us write out a list of the tasks of things that need to be done… and then we might possibly cross them off as we accomplish them.
The problem is that for most of us… we do the EASIEST task first. This is just a natural part of our human nature. It’s EASY to do the easy things first (pun intended, I think…)
And then another problem is that at the end of the day… we usually don’t accomplish the hardest task… which in most cases, is the most crucial and most important task that needed to be done in the first place!
What I have personally done in my life during the past couple years… is I have made it a point to do the hardest tasks first.
When you do it that way… you will never lose the motivation to work hard and get things done. Try it out and let me know how it works for you!
Use all of these tools as QUICK and SIMPLE ways to motivate yourself next time you are feeling down… or just use the motivational tools which are most comfortable and agreeable with you.
